Verified Pro
Every published listing carries it. We add a business only after we check it against the other places it shows up online, like its own website and its map listing.
Every award comes from a fixed rule and the same rules apply to every listing. The rules read the public rating and review count shown on each listing. Nothing else counts, and no one can ask for a badge they have not earned.

A public rating of 4.7 or higher on 25 or more reviews.
A public rating of 4.5 or higher on 10 or more reviews. A listing that clears the Top Rated bar gets that one instead.
One per trade per city. The city needs at least 8 listings in that trade with 10 or more reviews each. We blend each rating with the city average as if it had 20 extra reviews at that average, so a perfect score on four reviews cannot beat a 4.9 on three hundred. The highest blended score wins. The badge names the trade and the city, like Best Handyman in Columbus.
The listing with the most public reviews among at least 5 rated listings of the same trade in the same city. It needs 25 or more reviews, and a tie means no award.
Each badge links to a lookup page for that business. It shows every badge the listing holds and the numbers behind it. If a badge on a website does not lead back to HandyRanking, it is not ours.
Your listing page has a Get Your Badge box. Pick a badge, copy the code and paste it into your website. The badge links customers back to your listing. You can tick a box to add nofollow to the link if you prefer.
We run the rules again each time listing data is refreshed. A badge stays only while the listing still clears the bar, and each award carries its year.
